Golden Rothschild is pleased to announce that Catherine M. Shiels was chosen among the top 40 lawyers in New Jersey under 40 years cms_hsold.  Catherine M. Shiels has the distinct honor of being selected "40 Under 40". The New Jersey Law Journal selected the "40 Under 40" based on such attributes as leadership, solid record of trial and appellate work as well as charibtable and volunteer work. Ms. Shiels has developed an excellent reputation in the Workers' Compensation Courts. She is respected by both the Court and perhaps as importantly, if not more so, her adversaries. Her calm and professional demeanor often enables otherwise contentious issues to be resolved through negotiation and compromise, rather than antagonistic and inefficient procedural wrangling. These attributes inure to the benefit of her clients, but are not often found in attorneys who have "only" been practicing for 10 or 15 years. More often, younger attorneys believe that every issue, no matter its impact on their client's position, need to be fought and fought aggressively. This not only increases costs to the litigants, but stresses the court's resources as well. Ms. Shiels' ability to get past those issues that have little bearing on the outcome of the matter, places her in good stead with the court and are sincerely recognized and appreciated by her clients. She is willing to advocate her client's position aggressively and professionally when appropriate, but she also recognizes the practical advantages to the clients of effective compromise.

Please join us in congratulating Catherine on her award.
